Red Wings going Back to Back?

Oh yes they are. They have the best line in the league in Zetterberg, Datsyuk and Holmstrom. One of the top 5 scorers in the league is on the second line. Osgood is a very solid goaltender and we have the best defensive crews in the league. Not to mention the 5 time Norris Trophy winner, Nick Lindstrom to lead the defense and the team. He was the only guy in the world that could have taken the C after Stevie left. Top all that off with the best front office in the league and that becomes a recipe for success.

The Wings are definitely the preseason pick to win it all again because they are a perennial powerhouse and they won it last year. They made some key offseason acquisitions which will definitely help them in their quest to win the cup again. They include the addition of all-star forward Marian Hossa, who was a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins, who the Wings beat in the finals last year. They also signed forward Darren McCarty who provided a boost in the middle of last year when he came out of retirement. They also shored up their main weakness at goalie with the signing of Ty Conklin.

I understand what Andrews saying, but the wings pre-season performance not looking so good I’m very skeptical about how they’re going to be come next Thursday when the wings host the rebuilt Toronto maple leafs. Marian Hossa is for sure not about to play that great for us right out of the start, Mike Babcock going to for sure move lines around and try to put Hossa out with Zetterberg, and Datsyuk leaving Thomas Holmstrom probably moving back to his old line with Kurt Matlby. Looking at the wings new roster I feel power forwards on Toronto will own against young guys on the team when the pucks in Detroit zone.
Justin Abdelkader is going to be great. I see him producing goals, and making plays we need from a new young soon to be star on the wings. Towards the middle of the season I would not be shocked at all if we see him playing second string power play possibly; it should be interesting to see how it plays out for Detroit this year.
