Where are you going for lunch?

As seniors we have a school year’s worth of experience going out to lunch under our belt. It was exciting as a junior to go out in the real world and get lunch at a real restaurant instead of the cafeteria food which most people I’ve talked to hate it. The only good food options they have in my opinion are the cookies and the chicken fingers. As a junior I usually went to the same places such as Potbelly, Chipotle, Arby’s, Rio Wraps, Buddy’s, and Plum Market. As a senior I have tried to explore more options such as Quizno’s, White Castle, Honeybaked, and Qdoba. It allows you to take some responsibility upon yourself because if you are late to coming back into the building they will take away your lunch pass. If you are speeding in the parking lot they will take away your parking pass. Putting these responsibilities on yourself is a priceless test because the lessons you learn, apply in the real world and school is supposed to prepare you for the real world.

Going out to lunch is a great privilege; I always try to make it back on time for class, so that privilege is never revoked. The fact that you’re going out in the real world getting food at a real restaurant during school hours like Wehbe said is a great thing, compared to the filthy, inconsistent cafeteria food. For me it’s more about just getting off school campus during the day for a break, a time to regroup and just relax, even though our lunch should be a whole hour, we make do with what we have. One thing that annoys me though is how after B lunch at least half the students are walking around with their cup full of pop from where ever they went that day for lunch. This annoys me for many reasons, a few of them are for one you’re only supposed to drink water in class, and you’re not above the rules. Two, do people feel a need to let other people know where they went to lunch that day? Last, but not least my third reason, the staff here at Groves already nag us about following the rules a ton, and if someone spills their beverage, and makes a big mess I feel teachers due have a right to go off on you in a way. I have seen this done before, and just though “what are you thinking?” But, then again if you’re one of those kids who simply didn’t finish you’re beverage on time from lunch, and it doesn’t cause a problem, distraction, or a mess then this comment doesn’t apply to you really.
