The Detroit Pistons traded the face of their franchise, Chauncey Billups, to the Denver Nuggets earlier this week in exchange for Allen Iverson. Other Pistons players included in the trade were fan favorite Antonio McDyess and some guy named Cheikh Samb. However, the Nuggets are expected to release McDyess and he can rejoin the pistons in a month. When I first heard of the trade I thought it was a bad trade for the pistons because they had traded away arguably their best player. But then I listened to some analysts and they said it was a great trade for the Pistons because when Iverson and Rasheed Wallace become free agents this summer it gives them an extreme amount of cap flexibility which will allow them to go after the great players who are expected to become free agents in the next few years, most notably LeBron James. Meanwhile, they still have a chance to win the championship this year. After taking this deal in I have changed my mind and realize that it is another mastermind deal by the best general manager in the league, Joe Dumars.

Practice? We talkin’ about practice man, we talkin about practice, not the game… But we talkin about practice here man?
Questions from news reporter- Yeah Allen, we’re talking about practice, but don’t you think if you lead by example and came to practice your team mates could possible play better?
Allen Iverson- “How the hell, am I going to make my team mates better by practicing?
Hahaha it never gets old. Allen Iverson’s news conference back when played in Philadelphia for the 76ers. Like Wehbe when I heard we got rid of Chauncey Billups a huge part of the Pistons organization I was very shocked, and I haven’t even followed basketball in years. When I did show more of an interest in basketball, I always though AI was a ridiculous athlete. Yeah, he can play the game well. But, his attitude is something I wouldn’t want anywhere near my team. Personally I feel Iverson portrays himself as somewhat of a thug out on the basketball court. The sleeve he wears on his right arm I dearly hope has some kind of meaning because that alone looks so dumb it makes me even more upset with the Pistons for picking him up in this trade. The thought that we as the city of Detroit, a great sports city would never buy into the individual attitude, and forgot about the team effort which I think Chauncey was much better at showing. AI is more “all about me”, as opposed to the state of mind that all athletes should be in. What can I do to make my team better and win? Iverson is a great basketball player, but I’ve always been taught team before player in which I believe in 100%. I’ll be interested to see what happens with AI on the Pistons squad this year.
